CVE-2020-14630

Vulnerability in the Oracle Enterprise Session Border Controller product of Oracle Communications Applications (component: File Upload). Supported versions that are affected are 8.1.0, 8.2.0 and 8.3.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Enterprise Session Border Controller. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Enterprise Session Border Controller, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of Oracle Enterprise Session Border Controller as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Enterprise Session Border Controller accessible data and unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Enterprise Session Border Controller accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.5 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:H).

Security Impact Summary

This vulnerability carries a HIGH severity rating with a CVSS v3.1 score of 7.5, indicating it can be exploited remotely over the network with relatively low complexity though user interaction is required . The vulnerability impacts limited data confidentiality, limited integrity, and availability (service disruption) for affected systems. Impacting 1 product from oracle organizations running these solutions should prioritize assessment and patching.

Historical Context

Reported in 2020, this vulnerability emerged during an era marked by increased sophistication in supply chain attacks, cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities, and software-as-a-service (SaaS) security challenges. Security practices during this period emphasized zero-trust architectures, container security, and API protection.

How SecUtils Interprets This CVE

SecUtils normalizes and enriches National Vulnerability Database (NVD) records by standardizing vendor and product identifiers, aggregating vulnerability metadata from both NVD and MITRE sources, and providing structured context for security teams. For oracle's affected products, we extract Common Platform Enumeration (CPE) data, Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) classifications, CVSS severity metrics, and reference data to enable rapid vulnerability prioritization and asset correlation. This record contains no exploit code, proof-of-concept instructions, or attack methodologies—only defensive intelligence necessary for patch management, risk assessment, and security operations.
