CVE-2024-37144

Dell PowerFlex appliance versions prior to IC 46.381.00 and IC 46.376.00, Dell PowerFlex rack versions prior to RCM 3.8.1.0 (for RCM 3.8.x train) and prior to RCM 3.7.6.0 (for RCM 3.7.x train), Dell PowerFlex custom node using PowerFlex Manager versions prior to 4.6.1.0, Dell InsightIQ versions prior to 5.1.1, and Dell Data Lakehouse versions prior to 1.2.0.0 contain an Insecure Storage of Sensitive Information vulnerability. A high privileged attacker with local access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to information disclosure. The attacker may be able to use information disclosed to gain unauthorized access to pods within the cluster.

Security Impact Summary

This vulnerability carries a HIGH severity rating with a CVSS v3.1 score of 8.2, requiring local system access to exploit with relatively low complexity without requiring user interaction . The vulnerability impacts confidentiality (data exposure), integrity (unauthorized modifications), and availability (service disruption) for affected systems. Impacting 5 products from dell, from dell, from dell and 2 others, organizations running these solutions should prioritize assessment and patching.

Historical Context

Reported in 2024, this vulnerability emerged during an era marked by increased sophistication in supply chain attacks, cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities, and software-as-a-service (SaaS) security challenges. Security practices during this period emphasized zero-trust architectures, container security, and API protection.

How SecUtils Interprets This CVE

SecUtils normalizes and enriches National Vulnerability Database (NVD) records by standardizing vendor and product identifiers, aggregating vulnerability metadata from both NVD and MITRE sources, and providing structured context for security teams. For dell's affected products, we extract Common Platform Enumeration (CPE) data, Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) classifications, CVSS severity metrics, and reference data to enable rapid vulnerability prioritization and asset correlation. This record contains no exploit code, proof-of-concept instructions, or attack methodologies—only defensive intelligence necessary for patch management, risk assessment, and security operations.
